Citrus Lane October 2013 Review

Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness!
We received our October Citrus Lane box today! For those of you that don't know, Citrus Lane is a monthly subscription service where you get a box of goodies for your child that are geared towards their current age (and sometimes Mommy) each month delivered to your door. You never know what you are going to get, but overall I have not been disappointed.

This is what I got in my 11 Month Old, Baby Girl Box and the approximate retail value I found for each item from their specific website (or Amazon, since if you know me, I'm an Amazon Junkie and would most likely buy from there). Sometimes I have to do some math because the sizes aren’t quite the same, hence why they are approximate values.

At first glance (well lifting) it felt light, which isn't necessarily a bad sign, but usually the heavier boxes have been better. Once I opened it, it was nicely packaged but I couldn't really get a feel if it was any good. They also always include an information card with descriptions of the items and usually coupon codes to buy additional items at a discount if you like them, although this month there weren't any coupon codes. The box also had cute cut/pop outs for kids to make mustaches, bowties, and/or ribbons out of and to bring awareness to Breast Cancer and Men's Health.  If I had a little boy, I totally would have have given him a stache, but wasn't feeling it for EM.

Stache Pop Outs

Babytime Playful Wash by Episencial 3.4 oz - I won't lie, I'm a little disappointed that I received this again, I mean I love the product, BUT we just got it last month. It smells great and has the plus of being organic, I just always look forward to new items in Cirtus Lane and this isn't new for me. (Episencial Price: ~$3.83)

Little Yums Organic Teething Wafers (spinach, apple, & kale) by Plum Organics: this is another duplicate :( although I kind of forgot we got these in my August Box  because she wasn't teething then, and she's still not, So if she ever actually starts teething, maybe we'll give them a try. Hopefully she'll like them since we now have two! (Plum Organics Price: ~ $0.75)

Boon DIVE Bath Tub Appliqués - These will be cool for EM once she starts getting baths in the regular tub. Usually I just bring her in shower with me or she goes in the kitchen sink, but I know we're not too far away from the tub being her norm. I remember loving bath toys as a kid and I'm sure she'll be no exception. These also don't absorb water so they won't get black and gunky! (Boon Price: $10.99)

Green Tones Handle Cage Bell  - An earth friendly noise maker. As soon as I shook this in front of EM she smiled. I put her on the ground with it and she crawled around the house with it in her hand. I think it's safe to say it's a winner. I wish I would have snapped a picture, but I was in the middle of cooking dinner so I didn't feel like getting fish all over my phone. It's also just a bell sound vs. her really annoying toys that single the same jingle over and over again. Now, just need to keep it away from the dogs, they tend to only chew her wooden toys. (Amazon Price: $11.99)

3-Month Subscription to CricketMag.com - This is something we definitely won't use. Anyone want my promo code? I'm sure they are all the same for all the Citrus Lane boxes. I'm sure once EM is older and we let her play with the iPad and such this would come in handy, but considering she doesn't even really watch TV yet, she's definitely not going to be into this yet (plus I don't trust her with my iPad yet!) The $19.95 digital/print bundle is a pretty good deal though since it's normally $51.90, although we have so many books already (and I think these are just magazines, which aren't exactly baby friendly IMO) I am a little disappointed that we didn't get a sample of the magazine though because some other box subscribers did. It may have made me want to actually purchase the deal a little more if I got a sample of what the print looked like! (CricketMag Price: ~$4.50)

Total estimated value of box: $32.06(not including shipping)
Total Cost of box: $25.00 (free shipping)

Overall impression: If I don't include the digital magazine subscrition to the total value, it's really not that great of a "value" box, but I do like everything in it, and other than the digital mag, we will use everything in the box.
